Virtual Instruments Technology and water pipe leak detection are two hot topics in present-day, the main work of this thesis is to develop a signal acquisition and analysis software based on Virtual Instruments and apply it to the pipeline leak-position locating.The generation mechanism and frequency character of leak acoustic signal, leak detection common methods and wavelet application on signal denoising are firstly discussed in this paper, in which the frequency character of leak acoustic signal, correlation leakage detecting method and wavelet denoising is further researched. As well, the development of DSO25216 digital oscilloscope/logic analyzer drive and the design of data acquisition and analysis software on the typical Virtual Instruments engineering workbench LabVIEW8.0 is another important part of this paper. The signal acquisition and analysis software realized the functions of continuously data acquiring and saving, wavelet denoising, spectral analyzing, correlation operating, data searching and leak points positioning.Finally, an experiment is operated to verify the correctness of the algorithm and the usability of the software under the experimental conditions.
