Nowadays the research on the Automatic Test System focuses on the exchangeablity of the instruments and the portability of Test Program Set, the key point is the idea of designing based on the signal. To finish a universal Automatic Test System with both of the two characteristics, the paper does some in-depth analysis on the relevant international standards, and design the whole structure of the system. Especially focuses the research on the key technologies- the technology of automatically generating the TPS test program code.The paper describes the development of ATS and the origin of universal ATS, then analysis the structure of the Signal-Oriented test environment. In order to finish a universal system we must have the international harmonization of standards, so the author designs the implementation of this program by introducing some standards like STD, ATML, and so on. And then divide the whole system to five layers; points out the importance of the technology of automatically generating the TPS test program code(ie implement test procedures layers). The author does lots of thorough study on the topic, at last realized the design of the technology. The main work includes:First, the author does a lot of study on the standard of IEEE1641 and IEEE1671.1. Then developed a graphical editing tool with which the system users could describe his testing plan by the way of drawing a graph. The design of this tool based on the signals from the STD standard. It can translate the uesr’s graph to a document which obeys the IEEE1671.1 standard strictly.Second, the paper designs the signal interfaces, analisis the interaction between different interfaces and the process of the information exchanging. Beyond them finished the test execution code. It finished the test process control codes on the basis of studying the test description-file. Then make a method to combine the two aspects together to run the test. The paper analys the IEEE1636 standard completes the code to generate a result-file for each test. The TPS operation platform through which the testers interact with the system needs some support from the TPS test program code. So the author does some work on this aspect. At last, these three parts of code were arranged together. That’s the whole TPS test program codes, finally the code was encapsulated into a file of DLL because of the TPS operation platform.Third, the author worked together with the other partners to finish the ATS on which her tests many UUT to check the technology. Finally the correctness and the feasibility of the paper were proved.
