According to the needs of the project, our project team are ready to develop a wireless sensor network system for unattended field monitoring of moving targets.The system nodes should have easy layout, unattended, concealment, miniaturization, perceived ability, low energy consumption.We can not directly apply the traditional TCP/IP network protocol stack to the project. So we need to develop a new protocol stack for unattended wireless sensor network system.This paper is divided into two stages, the first stage is mainly completed the engineering practice based on theoretical study, focus on solving the problems about normal communication between nodes, accomplished the function of multi hop routing and forwarding, sensor node forwards data to the back-end; second stage focused on short code, low resources use, good portability, high operating efficiency, can long time stable and reliable work, and support future extensions of the flexible and efficient sensor network protocol stack. This paper mainly described the first stage.According to the application characteristics of project and the specific needs of wireless sensor networks, the project team has completed the overall architecture of wireless sensor network communication protocol stack and detailed hierarchical design, Wireless sensor network system adopts hierarchical design principles, the whole network is composed of a front end for data acquisition, information transmission network and the back-end information application system. Data acquisition network layer which is responsible for data acquisition is composed of the sink node and a large number of sensor nodes; network access layer which is responsible for distance relay transmission complete the conversion between the sensor network and the IP network adapter, this layer is composed of the sink node and access node; the back-end information application system which is responsible for the terminal application back-end management provide target information to the user, this part run the TCP/IP protocol on the terminal, the terminal can obtain the information of target by remote sensor nodes through a variety of remote communication.Finally, we complete the engineering practice about the application of wireless sensor network in the special platform. In the TI’s ARM+DSP architecture of OMAP_L138 hardware platform and the open source Linux operating system software platform, through software programming we achieved access layer network protocol stack link layer and above.According to the wireless sensor network system in this paper, we completed the network protocol stack test. We conducted a small scale networking test in the field. Nodes can communicate normally, can adapt to the changes of network topology.When Link disconnection or node die, node may find a new route to the back end, realize the routing update and maintenance. Wireless sensor nodes can transfer the target picture photographed to the back-end management application terminal,can replace human do heavy labor real-time field monitoring.
