With the rapid development of networks and network devices constantly updated, the energy problem of network is caused by more and more attention. Current network is increasingly exposed high energy consumption, low efficiency and many other problems. Therefore, building a energy efficient network has become a important factor of obstructing the network further development. At result, some researchers put forward the concept of Green Network to study the technology of saving energy. It is an effective way to reduce network energy consumption by designing a network energy mechanism reasonably. And by this, it is a effective way to bring out the Green Network.This paper presents a network energy saving mechanism based on network dynamic topology. This mechanism is consist of three modules, and they are information collection module, traffic prediction module and decision module. The information collection module is responsible for collecting network topology information, the traffic of network information and the routers’load usage. And it also will process these information easily. It will transform the network topology information to the decision module and the traffic of network information to the traffic prediction module. As the routers’load usage, the collection module will handle it. If some route’s usage is above the threshold, the collection module will send a warning message to decision module, so that the decision module could wake-up the sleeping routes to reduce the usage of routers if there are sleeping routers. The traffic prediction module is responsible for forecasting the traffic of network in real-time. As this, the decision module has enough time to wake-up the sleeping routes. And the traffic prediction also send the result of traffic forecasting to the decision module to help it make a decision. The decision module will process these information that is send by the collection module and the traffic prediction to make a good decision which let some route in the network be to the sleeping state. And if the saving energy mechanism runs successfully, it will save network energy effectively without affecting the quality of network service.For validating the feasibility of the presented network energy-saving mechanism based on network dynamic topology, we simulate it with VC++ platform. Simulation.
