Design And Implementation Of J2EE-based General Information Management System For Cultural Relics

The general inform ation management system to be constructed in this paper is aimed to boost the inf ormatization level in te rms of cultural re lics and m aterials management and to fulfill inform ation sharing and high-ef ficiency management. First, an analysis is m ade on the weak nesses of this city in term s of cultural relics and materials management in contrast to the st rengths of other cultu ral relics management systems. Next, an investigation and analysis is made on this city ’s sectors of cultural relics. Finally, the input, im age storage, information retrieval and search, com parative study on materials, archives storage search, the condition of cultural relic preservation and other functions are im plemented and completed, w hich provides a vigorous guaranty for effective use of and protection for the information of cultural relics.Advanced development techniques are adopted in the general infor mation management system for cultural relics deve loped in this paper, cutting down t he development costs, shortening the devel opment time and improving system reliability. The general information management system for cultural relics m ainly falls into six functional modules, namely registration of cultural relics, exhibition of cultural relics, archives management, protection f or cultural relics, statistical analysis, and system management, respectively. The function of regi stration of cultural re lics is to inpu t the information of cultural relics into the system, which lay s an in formation basis for exhibition of cultural relics, statistical analysis and ot her modules. The function of exhibition of cultural relics is to provide cultural relics for antiquarians and the public to browse online so that the m asses can b rowse the archived cultural relics without stepping outside of home; by searching fo r keywords, the antiquarians can com pare information of multiple cultural relics, browse pictures, and download information in packages, which is of great help to the study into cultural relics. There are two functions with archives m anagement: One is to count and search the in-sto rage cultural relics, including the sort, quantity and location of the cultural relics, and to search the sort and quantity of exhibition halls, and more. The ot her function is to recor d the statu s of archives, including the security a nd condition of exhibition halls, the secur ity of exhibition halls including the personnel al location of exhibiti on halls, the basic information of the personnel, etc. Protection f or cultural re lics consists of two parts: One is to record the extent of dam age on, the preservation condition and other information of cultural relics. The second is expert database, wh ich provides technical consultants for the preservation condition and damage restoration of this city’s archived cultural relics, including expert’s information edition, expert’s information inquiry, and more. Statistical analysis involves two parts: statistical anal ysis of cultur al relics and statistical analysis of antiquarians. The analys is of cultural relics offers information about the within-jurisdiction cultural relics for antiquarians so that they are fairly well informed. The statistical analysis of pe rsonnel enables a general knowledge about the human resource in th is city’s archaeological work and pertinent supplem entation of personnel allocation.At present, the general infor mation management system for cultural relics remains in a p ilot run stage. The system operates well, achieving the an ticipated goal. The construction of the general inf ormation management system f or cultural re lics has implemented the inform atization and standard ization of cultural relics and m aterials information management. By ef fective informationalized means, the ef ficiency of archaeological work is boosted, the protecti on for cultural relics is prom oted, and greater social value and economic value are created.
