Large-scale machinery and equipment play an irreplaceable role in the energy related construction project. But many problems has been caused on the management and maintenance because of the poor construction conditions and other factors such as a lack of intelligence of the device. For existing remote monitoring system, the function and performance were more perfect than before, but it was still unable to meet the increasingly diverse requirements. Therefore, a remote monitoring system for mobile power locomotive has been researched and designed in this thesis.The embedded system is based on DM3730 processor and 3G module SIM5320 E, with external sensors and cameras, which collected various locomotive working parameters, including the oil pressure, the rotating speed of the engine, the power of electricity generation and the video or photo of the working sites. The monitoring data is sent via 3G network and saved in SD card when the mobile signal is bad. The saved data would be resent after the network signal return well to ensure the data integrity for the monitoring center.The system is designed to take full advantage of the ARM and DSP dual-core processor. Embedded Linux operating system is installed on ARM core to realize the basic function such as data acquisition, processing and transmission. H.264 algorithm is executed on DSP core to compress the video frame to stream. The tasks are reasonable assigned to the two processor core to balance their difference on performance strength.The working parameters monitoring has been implemented in this thesis as well as the video monitoring. Some disturbing factors which may affect the stability and reliability of the system are analyzed in-depth in this thesis. Improvement approach on power isolation, temperature drift compensation, data anti-interference and network transmission is proposed in this thesis.
