Crops greenhouse is a highly intensive agricultural cultivating techniques, compared to ordinary outdoor planting, it can improve the yield and quality of agricultural products. In the greenhouse, the main environmental factors affecting crop growth include temperature, humidity and concentration of carbon dioxide etc.. In order to support the fine granularity of agricultural farming, further improve productive efficiency, lower productive costs, we need to monitor and control environmental parameters in green house closely to make sure the crops are growing in environment that suitable for their growth. Traditional greenhouse monitoring and control systems generally use a wired connection which exist some problems such as the wiring is difficult, costly and inconvenient maintenance. In recent years, with the progress obtained in the field of wireless sensor networks, the IEEE 802.15 work groups proposed Zigbee protocol. Short-range wireless communications network established based on Zigbee protocol contains advantages such as self-organization, low complexity, low power consumption, low cost and high transfer rates etc., which make it suitable for automatic control and remote control. In the context of this situation, we design a suite of crops greenhouse monitoring and control system based on Zigbee technology.The crops greenhouse system in this article is divided into two subsystems, namely: the greenhouse lower computer subsystem and the remote upper computer subsystem. The greenhouse lower computer subsystem consists of Zigbee nodes and sensors to realize data acquisition and transmission. Data transmission module adopts Zigbee and GPRS wireless communications technologies, the first is responsible for transferring the environmental data from the terminal nodes to the coordinator nodes and the latter is in charge of sending the data in the coordinator nodes to the remote upper computer subsystem. The remote upper computer subsystem utilizes Kingview6.55 to achieve data acquisition and monitoring functions, and make the secondary development on this basis.In the section of greenhouse lower computer subsystem, this thesis accomplished the hardware design of crops greenhouse monitoring and control system, which contains: Zigbee module selection, the Zigbee terminal nodes’ sensor selection and design, research work on communication module between nodes and the key technology to set the network. In the section of remote upper computer subsystem, this thesis accomplished the software design of crops greenhouse monitoring and control system, which contains: modifying choose the development environment for monitoring and control software, the design of monitoring software interface and function, accomplishment of serial communication.This thesis solves the crops greenhouse environment monitoring and control system hardware and software design, Zigbee node module integration, networking and transmission, programming and other technical problems. The experiments proved that this system can obtain real-time greenhouse environmental parameter data, its performance is stable, which can meet the actual demand. Finally, we summary the past work and put prospects for the future work.
