This paper studied China’s women role issue maily based on the role theory. The author tried to explore how media show China’s women role image under the conditions that western feminism e and 30-year reform and opening up have significant effect on China.By using of content analysis and text analysis methods, and selecting reports on Women of China and Ladies magazines of 2013 as research samples, the research has a description of women role image in general and in depth. Content analysis method has been used to make a general descrption from two angles as reports topics and women image’s features. Text analysis method has been used to analize three issues---how does the society regulate women’s behaviour, how do women cope with multi-roles and what’s relationship between women’s role behavior and social status.The research found that most topics about women image in media were "sentiment", "family" and "reports concerning women". In sub-category, “female knowledge category” excluded, "other sentiment" and "stories of common women" are mostly reported.Through making research on women’s image fetures,the author also found that the two magazines constructed women’s role image maily as city-living and independent image. However, even career women’s images have nothing to do with career, but with family and sentiment. Role theory has been used on text analysis and three foundings appeared. First of all, the orientation of women role in media was restricted by role norm that came from social expectation of women. Secondly, multiple roles of women were presented more on family roles,which reflected women were limited to family.When they were in trouble, compromise was usually adopted.Thirdly,media narrative structure presented women in “private domain ”and “non-production domain”,which further weakened the social status of women.The paper is divided into five chpters. The first chapter mainly introduces research reason, reaearch goal and the problems that the research was going to answer.The second chapter is literature review. The fifth chapter is the ending, discussing the deficiency of the article and new research direction.The third and the fourth chapters are main body.The third chapter analized the women’s media image in general in use of content analysis method and text analysis method.The fourth chapter explored the possible stragegy on how to improve reports. The author hold the idea that the media construction of the role of women is embedded in the process of individuals socialization.Women’s role construction is changing with meaning of socialization.The originality of this paper lies in two sides. Firstly, it presents women’s media role image in general, but also analizes social factors hidden below the roles that women take on. Secondly, it puts women role image in reality and analized the possible stragegy on how to improve reports.
