Along with the fast development of China’s TV industry, there is an increasingdemand for information in the society. The news reports today are much more andprompt. Under this circumstance, the on-camera correspondent shows more frequentlyin public. And the audience set higher standard for on-camera correspondent as well,requiring the On-camera correspondent not only tell the truth, but also do that in acreative and thoughtful way. The success of the TV news report is greatly benefitedfrom the on-camera correspondent’s understanding about its role in the program.However, some on-camera correspondents fail to define their role in the news reportand the phenomenon of role imbalance appears then, which affect not only thetruthfulness and the heart-stirring power of the news report, but also the upgrade ofthe quality and level of the live news report.This paper analyzes the on-camera correspondents’ good performances andproblems in some news reports, points out the role imbalance phenomenon in thereport, then defines the on-camera correspondent’s role from the four aspects-personality, news consciousness, political quality and esthetic level, and digs out themost effective way of communication for the on-camera correspondent in the newsreport, and finally carries out the opinion that on-camera correspondent is theeffective carrier for the news report to tell truth. Meanwhile, through analyzing theon-camera correspondent’s role in the news report, the author also aims to make thispaper to have some theoretical guidance to the on-camera correspondent in the newsreport.
