Research On Nationwide Reading Problems And Strategy Of Grass-roots Library In Jilin Province

Recently, reading is a trend in our country. Reading more books, reading good books, reading classic books, has been a theme of advocating a reading in our country. In March 2014, "nationwide reading" was raised on the government report of the 12 th National People’s Congress second conference for the first time, which is unprecedented in the history of our country. In March 2015, the government work report raised "advocating a reading" once again, and that made us firmly believe that our country will still carry out this activity more solidly in the future. Naturally, libraries undertake this glorious mission. Therefore, our libraries including public library and university library tried their best to demonstrated the reading activities and have achieved good results. However, grass-roots library is still the weakest one, which need to be improved especially in the implementation of the people reading activities.Jilin province is a distinctive multi-ethnic province which is belong to the economic development of underdeveloped provinces and located the triple junction of China, Russia and North Korea. At present, there are many paths and methods to be seriously discussed on the reading activities in Jilin province. What’s more, grass-roots libraries are not optimistic on their expenses and human resources. Besides that, on the basis of self-help and the government’s support, grass-roots library should play their public welfare nature, promote reading to improve the cultural quality of the masses which will be a long way to go.Firstly, this article introduced the background and significance of selecting topic, and then summarized the domestic and international research status. Secondly, the next chapter expounds grass-roots library and concept, origin, and present situation of nationwide reading. After that we draw a conclusion that the grass-roots library should play which kind of role in the promotion of reading activities. Thirdly, the third chapter and the fourth chapter introduce the current situation of Jilin province which is the main part of this article. Whereas the third chapter explores the achievements of the grass-roots library of Jilin, and the fourth chapter’s content is the analysis of existing problems. Finally, we find strategies in the fifth chapter by researching on the internet and literature, visiting the grass-roots libraries, this paper summarizing the deficiency and the problems of the grass-roots libraries’ reading activities. In addition, on one hand grass-roots library should be improved by the supporting the governments and self-building, on the other hand the grass-roots library should also to form a virtuous cycle mode by communicating with people, which make the people have more effective reading activities, benefit enough from it, and ultimately achieve the goal of the people sharing the achievements of cultural development.
