The past two decades, the rapid development of the transport sector, the rapid growth of vehicle makes the current traffic management, traffic engineering, and urban transport planning can not satisfy the demand in the transportation life, such as poor interactive exchange of information, services, and so is not wide enough rather smooth, environmental protection, safety, etc. it gave intelligent transportation systems has brought great convenience, intelligent transportation gradually become the mainstream transportation industry.Intelligent transportation systems, the rapid development of GPS, gradually applied to military, commercial and civilian in, GPS can provide good positioning, navigation and other functions. However, GPS positioning system to improve the current situation is not particularly, for example, can not be found star interior, battery life is short, there are other factors such as measurement error by the weather, there is a visual dead ends and other shortcomings, and radio frequency identification (RFID) technology anywhere use, no batteries, small environmental impact, etc. just to make up the GPS by these defects. The vehicle location in people’s lives is also important, such as cars speeding, overloaded trucks, Gong bu Si Yong, motor vehicle theft. Therefore, analysis and research of RFID technology in positioning is very important.This paper mainly introduces the advantages of intelligent transportation syst em, intelligent transportation system,the status of dedicated short range communi cation technology (DSRC), radio frequency identification technology (RFID),distan ce recognition system, traffic volume and vehicle positioning test. Finally, through t he RFID technology to design a system based on RFID, the system has the posit ion of the vehicle detection, vehicle trajectory data acquisition function, the traffic flow in real traffic statistics in a way which can be used to locate the vehicle. A fter the system design, to test the system by experiment, the experimental results show that, the system has the function of. In the experiment, a normal state and measure the distance of two states, by adding a database to query specific label v ehicle trajectory.
