With the constant progress of the society, the improvement of people’s life quality, the city car ownership has increased year by year, while the existing traffic infrastructure has been unable to meet demand, so caused serious traffic congestion, and a large number of vehicle emissions to the city’s air pollution, and even cause haze. At present commonly used urban intersection control model is relatively simple, in the face of increasingly complex road conditions is increasingly difficult to deal with, this kind of situation need to be addressed.This topic according to the present city of changeable complex traffic conditions, puts forward a set of based on RFID technology in the intelligent transportation system, and mainly complete for a better adapt to the traffic characteristics of the intelligent traffic signal controller design work. The controller based on the technology of RFID, based on ARM9platform, is modular, portable, easy to expand, convenient maintenance, has the characteristics of real-time multitasking capability. Completed information collection, data processing, control strategy and a series of module of software and hardware design, and puts forward a new algorithm of urban traffic trunk two-way green wave band, the main goal is to make into the ascending and descending of the vehicle lights, significantly reduce TingCheLv and the average vehicle delay time.In this paper, the main content summarized as follows:The overview of the concept of intelligent traffic control system and its development history, analysis of the current relatively popular at home and abroad of the advantages and disadvantages of several sets of traffic control system.According to characteristics of urban traffic in China, on the basis of the existing technology to design a set of vehicle information detection equipment based on technology, combined with many aspect of intelligent traffic controller proposed in this paper a new type of intelligent traffic control system.The system is flexible, can be arbitrary extend to upgrade, the user can according to the actual needs of the local, build a set of both conforms to the current needs and is advantageous to the long-term development of the system.And give the ARM platform system, vehicle detection system, communication system, such as a complete software and hardware design. The existing advantages and disadvantages of some commonly used traffic control algorithm is analyzed, and based on the proposed a new algorithm of urban traffic trunk two-way green wave band, the algorithm takes advantage of the left phase of the "late" and "early break" to coordinate the ascending and descending of the green wave band control, can significantly reduce the TingCheLv and the average vehicle delay time, is of great significance to improve the city traffic.
