With the rapid development of urbanization and the dramatic increase of car ownership, urban traffic congestion has become a national one of the key issues facing urban planning. Congestion reduces the efficiency of the transport infrastructure and the resources, increases travel time and fuel consumption, and automobile exhaust also pollutes the air seriously. In addition, accompanying by it, a series of serious problems such as traffic accidents occur. Intelligent transportation systems can effectively solve the traffic congestion, improve traffic safety and reduce the probability of the accident and the environmental pollution.etc. Therefore, the development of intelligent transportation and its importance are self-evident.Therefore, combining stream media transmission technology, geographic information systems, path search algorithms and embedded terminal, this thesis designed and implemented the intelligent transportation information display system based on the WP7 mobile terminals. The user can view real-time traffic video of all the roads at any time by intelligent terminal, and can also get other information such as road congestion, traffic accident-prone roads and road construction from the electronic map. By this way, users can intuitively know the current traffic situation and the situation of road congestion, so that they will change the driving route in a timely manner, thereby reducing travel time and environmental pollution. It also can alert the users to potential dangers to reduce the probability of traffic accidents occurrence.Firstly, this thesis introduces the main features and overall architecture of the system in detail, and on this basis, subdivides the system's function into three parts. The improvement of optimal path searching algorithm on the server, the addition of traffic information layer and the display of the traffic information on embedded mobile terminal.Secondly, several path search algorithms are studied, and after compared and analysed, GPSR and Dijkstra algorithm is introduced to the intelligent transportation system. Combined with the characteristics of this system, these two algorithms have been improved through in-depth understanding of them. Congestion distance factor is introduced into the GPSR algorithm and the database search is added in the Dijkstra algorithm. And then compared with the original algorithm, the improved GPSR algorithm has saved travel time, as well as the Dijkstra algorithm based on the database has reduced search time a lot.Thirdly, the addition of traffic information layer, the streaming video encoding process and its transmission, decoding and display process are introduced in detail. This thesis designs and implements the intelligent traffic information display system based on the WP7 mobile terminal, writes the intelligent traffic analysis program based on the embedded platform, builds the server and completes the encoding and publication of real-time video streaming.Finally, an overall test is made on the implemented system. Then, the renderings of the traffic information layer addition on the electronic map, the results of viewing real-time traffic video and the path selection and the curves of smooth streaming rate during client downloading are given out clearly. The test results show that this system has good real-time, intuitiveness and reliability, as well as good fluency of real-time video, which achieve the project requirements.
