Reality TV show started in west countries, has experienced decades years of dev elopment and progress, now become one of the world’s main television program. In th e late 1990 s, with the reality TV show was introduced to China, It began its developm ent and exploration of localization in our country for more than 10 years. Reality TV s hows through the transformation of localization, has gradually become one of the gen erally universally accepted and loved form of TV audience in our country, it has not o nly documentary-style documentary, but also funny of game shows, and the important entertainment of variety shows. Reality TV show mixed these advantages of reality s hows lead the new entertainment in TV programs market after entering China, during the development of more than ten years, the industry keep learn and study from foreig n reality show model, and keep to transform this foreign program localization of reno vation, reality TV show has become the backbone of our country’s variety show, also boarded the mainstream position of the mass media.The process of development of the reality show in China, is a study from foreign advanced theoretical knowledge then to imitate the foreign successful programs, use the actual situation of our country to keep reform and innovate. Localization process of the reality show, has experienced from directly apply to foreign elements, simple imitation and cloning of foreign programs, formal introduction program copyright, to the systematic study of the reality show produced by foreign advanced concepts, to achieve real personal the original show, and has made certain achievements today.On one hand, the boom in reality TV shows makes mass media glaring. On the other hand, it causes long-time discussion and disputes. Universal problems exist in the reality TV shows such as the serious homogenization phenomenon, ignoring moral restraints for the sake of gimmicks and a lack of innovative ideas. The country’s superstition and administration plays an important role in reality TV shows’ healthy and good development. Faced with these problems, SARFT issued related regulations more than once to contain and correct the weaknesses. However, with the fast development of reality TV shows, new problems will arise one after another. Therefore, we are required to make greater progress and efforts before Chinese reality TV shows develops into a mature and perfect program. With the development of new media such as network and mobile phones in recent years, reality TV shows widen their transmission channels, and gain much more social attention, which is good for their localization.The paper makes a detailed survey about pertinent literature, including investigating the background and the significance of the study, defining the related concepts, analyzing the characteristics of reality TV show in the process of development and localization. The paper, combined with the successful case, tries to find out the problems in the localization of reality TV show. Some strategies are put forward for the purpose of solving the problems. The paper aims to provide some referential experience for the sustainable development of reality TV shows, advancing towards branding, long-term and original development.
