Nowadays, Star Reality Show has become one of the most popular and appealing types of TV shows in China. As a special type of the Reality TV Show, it is loved and embraced by audiences, because of the influence of stars, various themes and excellent productions. The first Star Reality Show in China was Let’s Shake It in 2006. Over the following years, the Star Reality Show has been developing slowly, and then suffered from a tough period. But in 2013, as a series of Star Reality Shows, such as Dad, Where Are We Going?, I am a singer, Stars in Danger:The High Dive emerged these shows began to involve more extensive themes with the influence of hot stars and be produced better than before.In this way, it has captured more shares in the market of TV shows and then achieved its peak period in China.In this article, the inherent laws of Star Reality Show will be explored based upon Communication theories.Firstly, this article gives a brief introduction to the Star Reality Show, elaborating its development and status quo in China.The second chapter in the article, from the respective of Communication, particularly analyzes the specific environment, content and transmitting channels in the transmission of Star Reality Shows and discusses the influence from the policies of the government, the cultural environment and the media context. Moreover this chapter also describes the features and key factors of the specific content during its transmission. Furthermore, the development and the integration of media, which lead to the change of channels in the multimedia age, will be considered in this article.Taking some specific cases as examples, the article interprets the positive and negative effects of the Star Reality Shows In one hand, thanks to its own advantages in some areas, Star Reality Show has satisfied the demand of audience and made great benefit to both sociality and economy. The show, to some extent, is effective to promote the cultural continuity in different TV programs and to bring about remarkable economic profit. Besides, it is helpful to inspire the audiences to pay more attention to some hot issues in China. On the other hand, the Star Reality Show has also produced some negative effects such as homogenization, vulgarization and lack of veracity. These negative effects restrict the sustainable developing of the Star Reality Show.At last, the article proposes some suggestions from the perspective of sustainability. It would be expected that these suggestions could be useful for program producers and be helpful for the sustainable development of the Star Reality Show.
