University library, as an important part of the structure of the system of higher education, in the era of the MOOC wave, will be inevitably impact and challenged. In the process of library information service, providing more comprehensive information service is general trend.However, it is not clear for some university libraries to realize the importance of using MOOC into library information service, also, they are not clear about their own position and role. So it is necessary to carry out the necessity and significance of university library information service carried out using MOOC.This article combed through the overview of information service of university library and MOOC, understood the development process, studied the basis of understanding, found the necessity to carry out information service by university library MOOC, also it has profound practical significance and value of the times.
