The provincial trunk transmission network of China Tietong is mainly constructed by SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) transmission network, Compared with the traditional PDH technology, SDH technology can meet the business needs of the larger capacity. At the same time, its powerful network management, self-healing and restructuring functions well meet the needs of IP business development, however, with the rapid development of the data service of Gansu Tietong, especially in 2008, China’s telecom industry has experienced large-scale mergers and acquisitions. Under the new business pattern, the provincial trunk transmission network of Gansu Province which is based on SDH technology has been clearly unable to meet the needs of the development of the current communications business. Dense wavelength division multiplexing(DWDM) technology can be compatible with SDH technology and can greatly improve the capacity of transmission lines. Therefore, this paper tries to use DWDM technology principle to upgrading and upgrading the provincial trunk transmission network of Gansu Tietong.This paper briefly introduces the network status and structure of the provincial trunk transmission network of Gansu Tietong. Under the new IP business, the existing SDH based network system has lagged significantly behind the development of the times. By analysising from technical point, design a scheme that use DWDM+SDH to reform the existing SDH ring or SDH transmission link structure. It can make better use of existing resources while updating and upgrading the provincial trunk transmission network of Gansu Tietong.Finally, under the user network traffic monitoring data for comparison, it can be proved that the effectiveness of the transformation is remarkable, this transformation technology and program deserves to promote the application.
