Traffic problem is becoming more and more serious and has attracted people's great attention. Traffic simulation is one of the hot sports of traffic research field at home and abroad. The Chinese government has given first priority to public transport, but there are few traffic simulation models and systems about bus travel. In this situation, this thesis puts forward a traffic simulation model based on particle collision where public transport travel problem is given deep research, then a public transport travel simulation system PPTSS (Public Transport Travel Simulation System) is developed, which proposed a new method and simulation tool for public transport travel research.The study includes two parts which are public transport travel route selection and traffic simulation. Traffic simulation:a road network topology for traffic simulation is proposed, and for the purpose of detailed study, this thesis partitions the roads into grids dynamically. Particle collision traffic simulation model is proposed for the first time, and models for car, traffic signal and traveler are constructed. Car-creating model, free-driving model, car-following model and signal-waiting model are constructed by way of particle collision. A route-selecting model is proposed, and cars will select route randomly according to the road condition. After analyzing the classic GM car-following model, a new GM model with car style parameter is proposed. The new model make use of the achievements in psychology of vision and takes the style of the front car into consideration when study the driver's reaction of the following car. Public transport travel route selection:as the traditional public transport network model based on path-stop network has homonymous stops confusion problem when travelers inquire the travel routes, a new public transport model which can identify homonymous stops is proposed. Public transport travel route selection algorithm is studied, and least transfer travel route selection algorithm based on set operation is designed. Aggregation-Partition hierarchical search transfer query algorithm was proposed. This algorithm gives different solutions to identify different kind of homonymous stops.Public transport travel simulation system PPTSS is developed using models mentioned above. The system will give out travel route after the traveler chose begin stop and destination stop, then simulate the public transport travel according to the given route and initial files, during which different actions of cars like creating cars are simulated. The output of the system includes traveler's state which is displayed in real time on the interface and state of grids and cars stored in files. After simulation the travel scene can be displayed dynamically by using the stored data. System test results show that the simulation system can work well.
