In recent years, with the development of science and technology, Internet of Things(LOT) has gradually come into people’s life and brought a lot of convenience to human beings. As an important means of communication in the LOT, ZigBee also has received widespread attention for its low power consumption, capacity to large node number, great extensibility and security, and so on. While in the field of automatic control, mobile robot, as an integration of different technology, such as sensor technology, communication technology, automatic control, artificial intelligence, etc. have had a great effect on our life across the automatic manufacture, ocean exploitation, space probe, geological exploration, healthcare and entertainment.As an elementary form of mobile robot, smart car automatically have become a popular research direction. Therefore, if we combine the Internet of Things and smart car together by employing the advantages of the two, greater prospect would be achieved.In this thesis, we have realized the controlling of smart car platform by PC through the ZigBee wireless local area network communication technology. The K60 series microcontroller from Frees Cale was applied to the smart car as the control center. In addition, to achieve the basic cruise, CMOS image sensor was employed for the path recognition and servo motor for the direction control. At last, utilize ZigBee for the simulations of the distributed control of multi-car to study their speed and distance under the mode of free running and following. The main contents of the thesis include:(1)Discussing the history and development of the LOT and wheeled robot, and summarizing the advantages of ZigBee communication technology by comparing with several popular wireless communication method. At last, ZigBee was determined as the data transmission medium in this thesis, and the overall framework was confirmed.(2)The function of the smart car was analyzed to determine the system configuration. The functional modules include a power management module, servo motor control module, a road information detecting module, motor drive module, speed detection module and ZigBee wireless communication module, etc. In this thesis, appropriate device and design solutions for each module were selected to provide support for the independent movement of the car.(3)Relevant protocol of ZigBee wireless communication and its implementation approach were further investigated. First programming the ZigBee module’s code based on Z-Stack framework. Then utilizing Visual C ++ 6.0 IDE to program the upper computer software to realize the human-computer interaction. At last, for the distributed control of multi-vehicle coordination, utilize ZigBee to study the communication of the distributed control of multi-vehicle coordination and verifying its feasibility and reliability.
