Environment is an important physical factor for people's living and working condition. With the rapid development of computer technology, communication technology and auto-control technology, people are longing for better living environment and expecting to live in a safe, comfortable and modern setting. Under this requirement, Smart Home is coming into being. It is expected that Smart Home could monitor, control and manage the environment and household devices intelligently, so that it can keep the environment suitable for the people to live.This thesis's research object is the environment monitoring system in smart home. Based on the features of environment minitoring system and shortcomings of the current bus technologies, this paper put forwards a kind of environment monitoring system based on ZigBee technology for smart home. In this system, the sensor nodes detect the environment information, and send data to the central control node through the wireless network. When receiving a data originated from the sensor nodes, the central control node will send the data to the management center through a serial port. In order to provide users with interfaces to operate the system and display the information, we designed the graphic user interfaces on the management center. Based on the design requirement of this system, this thesis has done following researches.1. This paper introduced to the current home bus technologies in smart home. Based on the shortcomings of the current environment monitoring system in smart home and characters of some wireless network technologies, a kind of environment monitoring system based on ZigBee technology was put forwards.2. We discussed the development of ZigBee technology, and give deep insight into the functions and frame formats of each layer in ZigBee stack.3. We designed the proposed system according to the characters of ZigBee networks, and give detailed introduction of the system design from both hardware and software.4. In order to provide users with environment data information and operation interfaces, we designed graphic user interfaces on the management center.Compared with the traditional methods, this system has many merits, such as less wiring work, easy maintenance, high precision, good expansibility and flexibility. It can be easily used in the practical applications.
