| As one of the "three furnace cities" in China, Wuhan suffers from heat particularly as the heat disaster happens here every year. Worse still, along with the aggravating process of global warming and urban heat island effect the harmfulness of heat disaster is increasingly serious. Although the improving weather science and technology is facilitating the accuracy of heat forecasting, heat disaster happens frequently and incurs enormous negative impact on Wuhan citizens’life and work as well as industrial and agricultural production as heat disaster early warning involves extensive facets. Serving as the mouthpiece of our party and government the news media bear the responsibility and obligation to make an effort on environment detection and should provide early warning information thoroughly. The local popular newspapers of Wuhan are especially responsible for focusing on the heat disaster that closely links people’s daily life.This paper selects the coverage of heat disaster early warning in Chutian Metro Daily and Wuhan Evening News ranging from 2010 to 2014 as research objects. Content analysis and contrast analysis are applied to group and analyze the relevant coverage in these two papers and suggestions for media early warning of heat disaster are raised. There are three parts in this paper:The first part is an overview of media early warning of heat disaster, which includes the introduction of concepts such as media early warning, heat disaster coverage and media early warning of heat disaster and analysis of the necessity and feasibility of media early warning of heat disaster.The second part counts and analyzes the coverage of early warning of heat disaster in Chutian Metro Daily and Wuhan Evening News. Content analysis is applied as the research method to analyze the features of report quantity, early warning type, news style, news source, report layout and news picture of relevant coverage in these two papers. On the basis of case study of typical reports, a summary of the similarity and difference of these two papers on the same time, the same event and extreme high temperature weather reports are concluded, thus the present situation of coverage of heat disaster early warning is revealed.The third part discusses the inspiration that can be drawn from the coverage of these two papers. Through analysis of heat disaster early warning coverage in above chapter, the features of Wuhan popular papers’coverage of heat disaster early warning are summarized. And suggestions of media early warning of heat disaster are put forward. |
