With the development of society and economy, the demands in various aspects such as production, living and working are increasing, with which there are many problems remaining to be solved. The importance of distance measurement technology is increasingly enhanced. Since the linear charge coupled device(CCD) Optical gauge were successfully fabricated in Bell Laboratory in 70’s of last century in United States, the non-contact measurement technology has been greatly improved. Compared with other distance measurement gauges, the sensing linear CCD distance measurement system has many advantages, such as high measuring speed, accuracy, low cost, repeatability, reliability and the convenience for use. A new kind of laser distance measuring system with high accuracy were proposed and designed in this thesis.The laser triangulation measurement system was designed using the optical triangulation as the front-terminal and linear CCD as the core of the photoelectric conversion device. The system consists of the front setting up, CCD photoelectric conversion, CCD driving signal of binary valuation, signal identification and processing, and ultimately digital display modules. The modules of the system are designed in both hardware and software, respectively.The laser emitting from the laser ranging pointer that was fixed on the front end of caliper aims at the linear CCD surface through the cover layer of shade cloth. The light output signals were converted into electrical signals after the light integration phase and the photo-induced charge transfer stage. After the signal data was processed and binary valued, the information was identified and, the radiation position was determined by the LED.The hardware include CCD drive circuit, signal processing circuit, LED display circuit, the central processing circuit, write the corresponding software program.The hardware and software of laser triangulation measurement system were carefully debugged. The system can measure and display real-time position information of laser accurately. The merits of this laser triangulation distance measurement system include simple structure, high precision, low cost and reliability. It is a major breakthrough of the traditional measuring way. It not only improved the measurement accuracy, but also the cost of it is very low. It can be predicted this system will be used in many application fields in the future.
