With the development of digital cameras, Bayer CFA has been very widely used.Reduction for Bayer image demosaicing algorithm and hardware implementation of the algorithm has become the key technology of digital cameras.So color interpolation algorithm is also an important part of the image processing.Color imterpolation algorithm developed more than three decades,it has been developed from the most simple interpolation algorithm to a wide variety of good performance.In this paper,a hardware implementation of image color interpolation carried out a systematic study. This paper focuses on the color filter array interpolation algorithm for hardware implementation.The main results obtained for is1.The research for the theoretical based of the color science.The paper mainly study the conformation for the color and research the properties of the color,namely luminance,hue and saturation.To accommodate a variety of use,people gradually made various color space model,and acceptable way can be described easily for color in some standards.2.The study of the classic color interpolation algorithm.People get various interpolation algorithm using color correlation and spatial correlation of the image,and analyze the advantages and disadvantages.The paper studies the four classic color interpolation algorithm,for example bilinear interpolation algorithm,the pixel group interpolation algorithm,the adaptive interpolation algorithm and anti-gradient weighting coefficient interpolation algorithm,and verify them in the software platform. the merit or the defect of the reconstructed image quality canbe visuanlly observed.3.The study of the standard for the color interpolation algorithm.Algorithm performance will directly affect the quality of the image.If the algorithm performance is not good,the reconstructed image will appear zipper effect,default-color effect and moire effects.Therefore,the study of the standard for the color interpolation algorithm has important application value.This paper study the subjective standard and the objective standard.Kodak’s 24 full-color photographs as a test library in MATLAB platform are evaluated the restored image quality.4.The study of the hardware implementation for the color interpolation algorithm.The rapid development of FPGA brings new ideas for the image processing.FPGA parallel processing,multiple simultaneous operation of different nature,a short calculation time make FPGA an important role in the field of the image processing.This article focus on three classic interpolation.By comparing the reconstructed image quality and the computational complexity,the adaptive interpolation algorithm can be seen the most suitable interpolation algorithm for hardware implementation.
