Usually lots of consumpiton color camera use color filter array on the surface ofCCD or CMOS image sensor to abtain Color Image.This method makes digitalcamera’s cost and volume fall down,but at the same time brings a trouble which ishow can find the lossing color information and the recovered image will be acceptedby the human eye.The image captrued by the image sensor with CFA is called themosaic image.the process which restore the mosaic image to Full-color image iscalled demosaicing or Color Restoration.So far, a lot of mature interpolationalgorithms are used in a variety of demands by people, Such as Bilinearalgorithm,Adaptive interpolation algorithm and so on.Some of these algorithms’calculation is simple and easily implement in hardware,But the interpolation resultsare unsatisfactory.Some have good interpolation results,but are difficult to implementin hardware because of the computational complexity.Faceing high-speed imageacquisition system,People have been looking for a method which is easily achieved inhardware and has good effect.With the emergence of programmable logic devicesdeveloping,People find these devices have a big advantage in image processing, thenuse FPGA to achieve image restoration system that can handle the speed and imagequality balance.This article first reviews some of the typical interpolation algorithm bycomparing analyzes and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of eachmethod,and aims to the requirements for real-time processing,proposes an improvedinterpolation algorithm based on a method.This algorithm first restores the greencomponent of the whole image,then interpolate red and green components by judgingpixel belong to which direction of the color family.The algorithm is simple and easyto implement,can be applyed to real-time processing of high-speed digital camerasystem.And then design a hardware system to realize the algorithm. This hardwaresystem is divided into two parts,one part is used to acquire the mosaic image,the other part is used to reatore the mosaic image to the full-color image.In this paper, how toselect chip type and the circuit design are discussed in detail.At last,use VHDLsimulate the algorithm and implement the algorithm in FPGA.
