How to locate the development of a city into a let people can directly by the name of the city can be associated with one or a few culture symbol, how to through the mass media to communicate the most main, want to spread the information, establish a high-profile media image is around the corner, become the development direction of the different cities. This article through to the traditional print Inner Mongolia daily, wuhai daily and the new media "micro wuhai" wuhai news "micro letter" public platform, micro film research, understand the wuhai city in the process of development, to achieve the sustainable development of economy, the constant reform of the urban development and transformation, gradually change the original city symbol, and constantly add new notation to deepen the overall image of the city, in order to the thorough transformation of the city image, in the process of the transformation and through the mass media agenda-setting function, will these new symbols continuously for headlines, big layout publicity, so that a new cultural symbols into citizens inside. Through this paper discusses the concept, characteristics and significance of the media image and image shaping and maintain method, combining with the principle of semiotics, deep analysis of a few big cities symbol of wuhai city, shows in the traditional media and new media in wuhai media image.
