With the development of the computer technology, especially the development of the non-photorealistic rending (NPR), the study on combining Chinese calligraphy and painting with the computer technology not only has important theoretical and practical value, but also has important practical implications for the heritage and promotion of the traditional Chinese culture. As a special technique of writing, the Half-Dry stroke can increase the sense of rhythm and enhance the artistic expression of Chinese calligraphy and painting. Its filamentous white hollow-out, spirituality and elegant has an irreplaceable role in conveying the feeling and ideas. The randomness and diversity in its texture effect is a research issue in the simulation of Chinese calligraphy and painting. Therefore, researching the simulation of the Half-Dry stroke has very important significance. This paper mainly research on the simulation of the Half-Dry stroke based on the force feedback technology in Chinese calligraphy and painting. In order to simulate the Half-Dry stroke, this paper analyzed the history of the Half-Dry stroke in detail, and it researched the forming reasons and the artistic characteristics of the Half-Dry stroke. Then, a novel method of the Half-Dry stroke simulation based on the force feedback technology is proposed. This paper put the force feedback technology into virtual painting process, and it constructed a new virtual brush model based on the force feedback technology by analyzing the realationship between force and brush deformation. According to the deformation of brush model with the exerted force, an algorithm of brush stroke painting is proposed. Then, a database of the Half-Dry texture is constructed by analying its characteristics under different techniques of painting and the force influence on the Half-Dry stroke. On the basis of the above research, the Half-Dry texture in the database is mapped to the brush stroke by using the texture mapping technology and the antialiasing technology, which can effectively simulate the effects of the Half-Dry stroke. In addition, for the seam of texture segments, a new texture blending technology based on the Kubelka-Munk theory is proposed, which can realized the natural transition between segments of the texture. Finally, the proposed method has been successfully applied to the virtual painting system based on the force feedback technology. The research ideas and methods will broaden the thinking of further research on virtual product surface 3D painting, and lay a solid theoretical foundation.
