Research On Media Picture Of World In The World Cup By People’s Daily

Football is the most popular game in the world. The quadrennial World Cup is more to do with the Olympics of the eponymous world event. It is regarded as one of the three important sports events and the world’s major festivals to hundreds of millions of fans. So it has been the focus of media attention around the world. During the eighty years development of the World Cup, the Chinese football has ten times to qualify for the World Cup finals and has an historic victory in 2001. In this context, the Chinese media began to gradually deepen to the attention of the World Cup.People’s Daily, as the communist party of China central members of mouthpiece, is one of the Chinese media of early start to focus on the World Cup. From 1978 Argentina World Cup to 2014 Brazil World Cup, People’s Daily has ten times to report the World Cup finals. During this process, the report is becoming mature from the initial stage. The subject of my dissertation is about the World Cup report on People’s Daily from the year 1978 to 2014. On the analysis of the text from China football picture, Asian football picture and Global football picture, the People’s Daily forty years reports has been divided into four stages: the initial stage(1978-1982), the national stage(1986-1998), the summit stage(2002), the international stage(2006-2014). And the paper gives a description of the development of People’s Daily.Analysis shows that the three aspects picture exists in each stage and has own change and development. In general, China football picture gradually become open, Asian football picture is stable in the depoliticized process and Global football picture is gradually highlight become the most important picture. The changes consistent with the economic, political, social, culture development. And they are also effected by each other.From the perspective of "media picture of the world", through the research of the development of the report about the World Cup on People’s Daily, we can find that in the forty years, the news view has changed to "China in the world" from "China-focused". Chinese media and society can be more confident, view become more open, doing things is more free and easy in the face of international activities.
