A Research On Precision Journalism Of The China Youth Daily

In the late 1960s, Philip Mayer, American journalism scholar and journalist, who put forward to the methodology for social science should be applied to journalistic practice. And Precision Journalism has been a news report genre that cannot be neglected since it developed nearly half a century. As a kind of way of news report that can reflect the general opinion and present opinion survey, the birth of precision journalism is a gorgeous self-steering that the mass media test the supervision themselves.Precision journalism has been introduced to the press of China almost thirty years. With the advancement of political democratization in China constantly, the party and government are increasingly focused on people’s voice and the citizens have more opportunities to participate in democratic decision-making. Meanwhile, with the advancement of the communication technology, precision journalism has been an important way of reflecting the popular will and public sentiment by the media. The development of precision is still growing, but it existed the presence of the good and raised doubts and discontent emotion by the people and society. That went against the essence of science and objectivity of precision journalism reports radically, and that damaged the credibility of the media.This paper chose the page of "Youth Survey" of China Youth Daily that is the special precision journalism as a case analysis study. In 1993, The Social Survey Center of China Youth Daily has been built to engage on opinion survey about social hot spot, and they open the special page to report the research results. After several revisions, the special page "Youth Survey" that published all kinds of opinion survey reports launched in 2005. As one of the distinctive columns of China Youth Daily, the page "Youth Survey" aimed at current social hot spots and published a manageable number of precision journalism on fixed day--Tuesday and Thursday. And The influence is becoming bigger and bigger. This paper chose the page "Youth Survey" as the object of study, and then did the comparative study from the process of news production and "ten items" publication of precision journalism by scholar Xiao Ming respectively. So that the author can explore and analyze what the features did the precision journalism of China Youth Daily reflect in the process of news production. what are the problems and deficiencies in the practice? And how did it should reply when it face the new age and the new development of technology?Apart from Introduction, this paper have other four chapters. And the body can be divided into there parts. The first part mainly introduce the current situation of precision journalism study, and then clarify the background and process of the birth of precision journalism at home and abroad and elaborate the features and function of precision journalism. The second part, that is, the third chapter and the fourth chapter of this paper. The part mainly do the content analysis from the process of news production and "ten items" publication of precision journalism by scholar Xiao Ming respectively, and then the author can explore and analyze the current situation, reporting style and feature. So that the author can summarize the questions and deficiencies in the news production. In the third part, the author carry on countermeasure study based on the problems put forwards though content analysis, and then discuss the path and prospect of precision journalism in Big Date Era.With the advancement of the communication technology and the political democratization in China, precision journalism become important way of reflecting the popular will and public sentiment by the media because of its natural attributes. Facing up to the noticeable way of news report, this paper chose the best one of precision journalism——"Youth Survey" of China Youth Daily as case study and can expect know by a handful the whole sack. So they can provide the theory basis for participate in the reporting practice and clarify the development ideas based on these studies. At the same time, they can provide the reference and guidance for other media about the practice of precision journalism and its future.
