Since July 2013, The Quiz Show about Chinese Culture became popular quickly, such as Chinese Spelling Hero and Dictation Assembly of Chinese Characters. Their ratings are high and they are very popular among audiences. Nowadays, the TV are full of entertainment programs such as dance shows, dating shows and reality shows. As to The Quiz Show about Chinese Culture, its entertainment is not strong, conversely, it has a deep cultural connotation. There are many factors of its success, I think the most important reason is its localization. So I will generalize this program mode and research the situation, strategies and prospects of its localization innovation. And I hope that others can learn from its experience.I used two research methods in my paper, they are documentary analysis and case analysis. Firstly, I will analyze and integrate other scholars’ research. Secondly, I will research the specific television programs like Chinese Spelling Hero, Dictation Assembly of Chinese Characters and Chinese Idiom Congress. Then I can conclude their program mode, background, strategies of localization and development direction in the future. This paper mainly divided into five parts, the first part is an introduction. In this part, I will mainly summarize other scholars’ research on program mode, TV program localization and The Quiz Show about Chinese Culture. These researches will provide theoretical basis and thinking mode for me. The second part focuses on the introduction of such programs,, it mainly includes its basic program mode, the form and its causes. In the third part, I will analyze the situation of localization about TV programs. Now, the phenomenon of clone among TV programs is serious, so it’s necessary for TV programs to make localization transformation. But there have been some problems in this process, so localization innovation is necessary. In the fourth part, I will research the localization strategies of Dictation Assembly of Chinese Characters, then I can summarize the general tactics of The Quiz Show about Chinese Culture. As to Dictation Assembly of Chinese Characters, its keynote, content and mode are original. As to the type of the show, it explored the TV market gap, it put the local culture as the theme of development, the quality of this program is very high, what’s more, it used new media to disseminate the program. In the last part, Ⅰ will discuss the development direction of such programs in the future. Programs should grasp the cultural essence, innovate program mode and express cultural connotation in entertainment.For the research on localization of the quiz show about chinese culture, Ⅰ summarized some strategies of localization. First of all, China’s TV programs should hold the spirit of the original, add chinese elements in the content of TV programs. Secondly, Chinese TV producers should invest in manpower, material resources, financial resources and time, make efforts to explore the original program mode. Thirdly, TV shows should find the differentiation competition in TV market, avoid homogeneity, look for a market gap, and then it can appeal to viewers. In addition, TV programs can improve their quality and spread themselves with new media. In terms to the quiz shows, they should grasp the cultural essence, change forms flexiblly and express cultural connotation with entertainment. In my opinion, in the fierce competition, TV shows need to make appropriate localization innovation to make sure their success, so this research will have significance to it.
