Research Of UGC-mode-web-radio APP

This paper is a research of UGC-mode-web-radio at a ritual view of communication which created by James W. Carey. Compares it with a ritual view of communication, a transmission view of communication defines communication as a process of transmitting information for control purposes, dismissing the cultural functions of communication. Though a ritual view of communication defines communication as a process of creating, modifying and transforming the community culture, paying close attention to the role in which the communication plays when constructing the human behavior. And it put the cultural research as orientation. After sorting out the domestic and foreign research about a ritual view, knowing the superiority and controversies of a ritual view of communication and limitations of a transmission view when researching web radio, this paper carried out research of UGC-mode-web-radio and users at a ritual view of communication., according to ritual metaphor, role-playing, community construction and description and strengthen of worldview that a ritual view emphasizes.The researcher used the methods of online participant observation, individual interviews and other research methods, observed and excavate how users build a community ritual and sustain community with others in the process, at web radio. The study found:At a ritual view, to high degree, broadcast is not regarded as the media of news or other media programs transmitting to the audience, but intervening in constructing people’s daily life and the time of the ritual. Based on this premise, UGC-mode-web-radio APP imitated and borrowed elements from broadcast ritual during creating a platform, while satisfying users to play "anchor" and "audience" role to provide technical and design support, also stressed the state gathered across time and space, with a conscious sense of enhanced scenario sense, focusing on the community experience of users, creating a communication field which break through the barrier of geography and time, helping users to construct community, describe and strengthen the specific worldview.Users through role-playing, community construction and formation of self-identity to construct community ritual on the basis of web radio. In observation, the researcher found that after users get the role from the platform, they launched on their understanding and interpretation of the role attentively. Users went deep into the role-playing so that blur the boundaries of the role, showing the extension and maintenance of social rules and order. Users committed to creating and harmonious atmosphere without sense of distance. This vivid experience made users feel a strong presence of other participants, and thus motivated the close-knit community. And the self-identity of users got gradually formed in the self-narrative of users, interaction between users, satisfaction and sense of belonging, exceeding the expectations and recognition, strengthening the specific worldview during ritual.
