On Waiting Option Value Calculation For Digital Preservation Project

As more and more widespread use of digital information, digital preservation has become a hot research around the world. Reading the research at home and abroad, we can find that there are not much research on economic value of digital preservation project. Among the results, the research based on waiting option is very few. However, digital preservation project is a large investment project, it is irreversible and can be delayed. The traditional analysis and evaluation methods(such as NPV) can not accurately assess the economic value of digital preservation project by ignoring these features.This paper studies on the economical value of special digital preservation investment project based on waiting option. The results of this research are as follows:(1)This article analyses the life cycle of special digital resource preservation project, discusses the composition, affecting factors and calculation method of investment cost, studies the characteristics, affecting factors and calculation method of income;(2)This article builds the waiting option value calculation model for special digital resource preservation project, and shows the resolving method of the waiting option value calculation model.
