MSTP is the best way to construct the bearer network early in the 3G era. But many telecom equipment manufacturers can not give an accurate understanding of the network requirements, so that it causes some problems such as unreansonable traffic interface, limited aggregation capability, no unified planning about clock function and synchronization network, and even no interoperability. By the project communications with telecom operators are made, and telecom criterions about MSTP are made a depth research, then the key requirements are made clear and the specifications of MSTP equipment applying in access layer are developed. And next the equipment is implemented. The detailed definition and implementation about clock is given. Suggestions about planning synchronization network are provided. The paper depicts key factors about this project.The first chapter of this paper first puts forward the concept of the bearer network, and researches its network architecture, technical systems and trends, and current situation of access layer in the bearer network; Chapter 2 focus on technology of Multi-Service Transport Platform Over SDH applying in access layer, and researches its scenarios and the key technology to implement it. And clear specifications of MSTP equipment applying in access layer are given. Chapter 3 focus on synchronization network technology, relationship between Multi-Service Transport Platform and synchronization network, principles and methods to construct synchronization network using Multi-Service Transport Platform Over SDH. Then the special clock requirements of MSTP applying in access layer is bring forword, and discusses the retiming technology. Chapter 4 depicts Hardware implementation and software implementation about clock of MSTP, and gives results of clock specifications under test. Chapter 5 researches the new requirements of synchronization technology with development of the bearer network.In accordance with suggestions of the paper, MSTP equipment is implemented, and has commercial success. The research project provides the basic knowledge and guidance to plan synchronization network implemention, and clock implemention of MSTP applying in access layer.
