In recent years, with the rapid development of the IP networks and modern communication technology, VoIP technology as integration programs between traditional Public Switched Telephone Network and IP networks plays an important role in the next generation network development. As a key equipment of connecting PSTN network and IP network, the trunk gateway acquires a wide range of applications and attention. Combined with the author’s research work in post-graduate stage, the master’s thesis has systematically summed up the migration and implementation of trunk gateway.To begin with, the basic concepts of VoIP technology, the development status and development trends were given, and through the key technologies in VoIP, this thesis introduces some important protocols and system architectures. Through the analysis of the integration between PSTN and VoIP and the introduction of Soft switch, the research and implementation of Trunk Gateway in VoIP are talked in this paper.Chapter IV discussed the migration of ISDN/PRI signaling modules from V.42 to V.62, including differences between V.42 and V.62、transplantation procedures and the implementation of specific interface module.The fifth part mainly described the improvement of MTP3 functional blocks of the ss7 signaling system. Added forced rerouting control and controlled rerouting control function. It also described the implementation of the signaling link load-sharing algorithm. Finally, the paper introduced functional testing of the trunk gateway module.
