The Design And Implementation Of The Borrowing And Management System In The Library Of Zhuhai College, Jilin University

The college libraries, undoubtly, play an important role in the construction and development of Universities. With this development is the fast increase of collections, which puts great pressure on the management. In other words, the information for management grows dramatically because of a more diverse reading demand. The once manual operation becomes more and more inefficient. The introduction of the information techonology into the managent system, therefore, will help to improve the working efficiency.Although, the current library management system, to a certain extend, satisfies the reading demand, techinical problems and limitations can not be ignored as well. And it’s these limitations that restirct the interaction and communication between the librarians and readers, crippled the management system, which, if fulled developed, would activate the library to its full potential function.This paper conducted an in-depth survey into the present borrowing managment system, proposed its upgrading objects and directions, formulated a survey strategy based on the current system, analyzed the differences and merging stratagey between the old system and the new one, and finally accompolished the upgrading and transformation of the system.The new system fully takes the borrowing practise in real situation into consideration. The demands of the readers, librarians and system managers are all taken into account. Information services, system setup, readers’managment, catalog administrations, distribution managment, overdue management, statistics manamgent are all studied. All of these factors are considered to make sure of the stablity, efficiency and security of the system.The new system is developed based on the Web platform. Both the ASP technology and SQL SERVER are adopted. It can also run on Windows. Readers and system managerss can visit and operate on the system through the Web explorer. The reader’operating process and systematic management process are analyzed; user case analysis are adopted; operability, uersr-friendly interfaces and systematic security are considered. The design approach is user-oriented. Functional modules are desiged based on UML modeling. The flow chart, interface presentation and core code presentation are used in the test for system implementation. Black-box method are adopted in the test to ensure the running of the system.In short, the new system will improve the management efficiency, save expenses and utilization of the collections greatly.
