Research And Implementation Of The Quality Assessment Model For Mobile Video

Experts believed that mobile video is one of the most promising service in the mobile Internet era. With the rapid development of3rd generation network technology, the mobile video service has attracted more attention by the users than ever. Compared to the traditional cable network video service, mobile video service is more sensitive to the transport condition and there can be more probabilities of bit error. And the performance of mobile video is limit to the mobile devices’hardware, which means it’s necessary to choose an appropriate way to encode video for mobile videos. Besides, there are some other factors, which can affect the quality of user experience for mobile videos as well, such as video contents, users’interests and so on. All these factors make it difficult for the mobile video service providers to evaluate the quality of mobile videos, as well as leading to an improvement of the mobile video experience for users.In the study of quality assessment of mobile video, there are mainly two methods, which are objective and subjective evaluation methods. At present, most of the researches on assessment of video quality are based on quality of service. But it is not an effective method, because it doesn’t take the factors of user experience into consideration. However the method based on quality of users’experience chooses the metrics that will affect users’ experience, and it will have an obvious improvement in quality assessment of mobile video.Focus on the features of mobile video, we proposed four aspects of metrics which contains of wireless parameters, terminal parameters, encoding parameters and video types, these will have effects on users’ experience. Then we adopted an approach combined with users’ paticipation and terminals’ automated measurement. Finanlly, we applied the test results into the analytic hierarchy process and proposed a quality assessment of mobile video.In the paper, first the development of mobile video is introduced; second, descripe four aspects of metrics which will affect the users experience; third, design and implementation of the quality assessment of mobile video are done in the requirements analysis; last but not the least, testing environment is set up to collect results and achieve a scientific and effective strategies to evaluate the quality for mobile video service.
