Software defined radio (SDR) is a new radio architecture and an advanced method of designing radio system. SDR uses open, simple and scalable hardware as a common platform. It implements the radio function with reconfigurable and scalable component-based software. Compared with the single antenna SDR, multi-antenna SDR improves the transmission rate and channel capacity effectively. In this thesis, multi-antenna SDR is used to build the demonstration platform, aiming to verify the performance of improved algorithms.The technology of self-organizing network can improve the network’s ability of self-organization and reduce the costs of construction and maintenance. It contains three aspects:self-configuration, self-optimization and self-healing. This thesis researches on the self-optimization, including weak coverage self-optimization and interference self-organization. Current research on self-organization is mainly conducted through theoretical analysis and simulation approach, without using the self-optimization technology into practice. Therefore, the task of this thesis is to build a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) demonstration platform based on multi-antenna software defined radio and realize the self-optimization algorithm on the platform. We can verify the algorithm’s feasibility and effectiveness by the enhancement of wireless service quality and network performance parameters.In chapter2, the network architecture and key technologies of self-organizing network are described. In chapter3, the WLAN demonstration platform based on multi-antenna software defined radio is built on the basis of the single antenna demonstration platform. The process includes new hardware debugging, parameter collection and joint debugging of hardware and software. After that, the limitation and shortcomings of the previous self-optimization algorithm is analyzed in chapter4. Both the weak coverage self-optimization algorithm and the interference self-organization algorithm are improved. Finally, the improved algorithms are realized on the new demonstration platform so as to verify the feasibility and effectiveness. In the end, the advantages of the improved algorithms are described.
