With the development of science and technology, video monitoring has been better and fasterdeveloped, from the previous analog video monitoring to digital video monitoring of the past, thento today’s network video monitoring system, the ability of monitoring is constantly improving asthe same as the technology.In this paper we design a network video monitoring system based onARM11processor and embedded linux system.Firstly, we discuss the survey about the videomonitoring,then wedesign a network video monitoringsystem.Themainlyworkis below:(1) We use the cross compile way to transplant the embedded Linux system into the ARM11processor.The embedded Linux system has some good advantages,such as open source andstability.The video monitoring system in this paper is using B/S mode,so we built a lightweightWeb server of Boa on the Linux target board.This work provides the hardware and softwareenvironmentforthevideo monitoringsystem.(2) We design the program with the V4L2video device driver interface in the Linuxenvironment.In the video monitoring field we select a type od USB camera which is supportedwith V4L2interface.The video data acquired is delivered to the MJPG-streamer progream forfurther process.The MJPG-streamer progream can be obtained from the single components of thevideo data input, and output to a folder or a network of multiple components.The image processingincludes DCT transform and JPEG coding, and then through the UDP protocol implementation ofsocketprogrammingtocompletethenetworktransmissionofvideo data.(3) At last we use the mobile client and fixed client respectively to test the video monitoringsystem through Web browser.Then monitoring the memory and CPU which the video monitoringsystem is consumed by the minicom software in Ubuntu.The test results show that the systemoperation is stable and reliable, the real-time video image obtained by fixed terminals and mobileterminals is fluent and clear, without distortion and jitter phenomenon, and the system has achievedgoodeffectofreal-timevideo monitoring.
