The information technology development of China’s financial and insurance industry has been at the forefront of other domestic industries. In recent years, the rapid development of business and huge capital investment has brought an explosion of all kinds of IT applications. However, more and more applications have resulted in decreasing efficiency, so the IT development of finance companies encounters the bottleneck. Introducing the concept of IT service management solves the pressing need for financial firms and dramatically improves the quality of IT services, even more opens a new door for the IT services development of companies, and enables the enterprises to stay ahead in the fierce competition in the market.However, the establishment of IT service management system and the deployment of IT service management system do not mean you have a high quality of IT service management, the actual work is the key. This article is based on this understanding, selects the GS insurance companies for the study, explores practical applications of its IT service management system, and tries to give optimization measures, in order to continue to improve the quality of IT service management of GS company.This paper is based on the basic concepts of IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes system, gives carefully combing and analysis to the status of the GS insurance company’s IT Service Management, identifies the IT Service Management processes which are urgently needed to optimize. There are five processes and a function, namely:service level management, capacity management, service desk management, incident management, problem management, release management. And then sums up the problems in these processes. On the basis of GS’s existing IT service management system, the paper combines with the actual work, gives a detailed analysis on the causes of the problems, and puts the guidelines and recommendations of ITIL for the direction, gives the appropriate optimization countermeasures for each process.The conclusions of this study not only have greater practical significance for GS insurance company to enhance its current IT service management quality, but also have a certain significance for the industry’s development and deployment of their IT service management systems.
