Nowadays, with the explosive growth of data, traditional calculation mode can not adapt the need of abreast of times. Cloud computing and big data have become the trend of of the times little by little. Cloud storage is a concept that is born in the concept of cloud computing. It can be regard as a cloud computing system with the core function of data storage and manage.OpenStack, which is developed by NASA and Rackspace, is a cloud platform manage project. It can build and deploy cloud computing service for common users. With powerful features, it also has deficiency.This thesis base on this background, and designs a mass network storage system without metadata server. Firstly, this thesis introduces OpenStack platform and network storage system. Then this thesis designs a mass network storage system without metadata server, including framework of the network storage system, searching algorithm, reliability and read-write strategy. Lastly, this thesis applies the mass network storage system without metadata server to OpenStack, and provides storage for OpenStack.The main point of this thesis is the design of the mass network storage system without metadata server. Traditional network storage systems have metadata server, which restricts the performance of system and leads to performance bottleneck and single point of failure. The mass network storage system without metadata server designed by this thesis creatively cancels metadata server, and uses algorithm to realize the searching, dispatch and visit. It removes the problem of performance bottleneck and single point of failure.Another innovation point of this thesis is treating map of the network storage system from multiple ring’s point of view. And this thesis put forward a multiple ring fast computing method, which is more efficient than previous method.OpenStack’s default is block storage device, which restrict its application to a great extent. This thesis creatively applies the mass network storage system without metadata server to OpenStack and let it break through the restriction of block storage device, which enhance its storage ability still further.
