Billet surface temperature measurement is an important part of iron and steel smelting, then it is essential to collect and and analyze images for achieving the accurate measurement to billet surface temperature, the same time the collecting image signal is transpoted to display at host computers and analyze. But because of some reasons such as high-temperature environment, dusty, severe vibration, Strong electromagnetic interference and complex background interference, it leads to the image detection system in noisy images collected, complex interference and a lot of missing information.So reliable acquisition to slab surface thermal image information is always a technical problems of Image detection. The outstanding problem is that we can’t get the stable and accurate true temperature of billet surface by using the traditional single-point temperature measurement infrared thermometer method. Moreover in harsh field environment, analog signal can’t be transferred reliably and effectivly. Then measurement accuracy of visual inspection system for continuous casting process is reduced greatly, and can not be measured in real time. Eventually Control system can not be effective and accurate control to the continuous casting process.This paper presents a DSP-based image acquisition system. It consists three parts of CCD module, DSP module and the host computer. Area array CCD image sensor is the system’s front-end, it outputs image signal and convers A/D by the design of CCD signal processing circuit. DSP module as the core of the whole system collects front-end CCD image signal and finishs the work of store and packaging and sending the Ethernet frame. Then PC realize the function of network packets received by Socket technology and convert raw format images to DIB format. At last this article tested the system and analyzed, then verify the system functions and effects.The system is basically the image signal acquisition, transmission and display. First, area array CCD can improve the previous single-point temperature measurement infrared thermometer lack of means. It can obtain accurate temperature information by analysis of area array CCD image information. At the same time multimedia application-specific DSP chip makes the acquisition system more suitable for image processing, so it is userful for the image processing algorithm development in the future. Moreover Implementation of the Ethernet transmission transform digital signals steadly and rapidly, and reduce or even avoid casting on the site of the interference signal, at last ensure the integrity of the image signal, accuracy and real-time.
