Steel product must be cut so as to have certain standard dimension. But there is the problem of aberrancy in the production procedure. In order to limit the stripped-steel to run in the regulated rang, Central position system (CPCS) must be installed in the system. Currently, the stripped-steel automatic CPCS in China and other countries have photosensitive diodes as detective sensor and MCS single chip microprocessor as control core. These systems generally have low detective sensitivity and high error and bad real time performance.This paper developed a new CPCS with the hardware design, software development and some on-field experiments.This system has Charge Coupled Device(CCD) as its detective sensor and DSP-TMS320LF2407 as its control core, combining image, optical, and electrical control. It has high detective sensitivity, low error, high stability, good real time performance and easy to be extended, so it has a very bright outlook to be used on all kinds of stripped-material automatic product lines.
