With the development of sensor technology, micro-electromechanical systems, modem networking and wireless communication technology, wireless sensors network that with low-cost, energy efficient and multi-function is becoming one of the hottest spots in IT research, it has been predicted to have a wide range of applications related to national security, military, environment, health care, home and other commercial areas.Coverage control of the wireless sensors network is a key problem of supplying inspection and quality of service (QoS) on WSN. However, there are several practical constraints in implementing the coverage strategy, the sensor nodes are generally powered by batteries, and it is impractical to recharge or replace power supply. The consumption of the sensor nodes particularly when the consumption is not balanced will greatly shorten the working life of WSN. So how to achieve the efficient use of energy especially the energy balance between the sensor nodes is a key issue. This paper will focus on it.For the Situation that the sensor nodes’ coordinates can not be determined, the coverage control algorithm based on VFA and its improved algorithm are introduced at first, and then by researching and anglicizing the advantages and disadvantages of existing algorithms, the VFA coverage control algorithm based on energy balance is proposed. The algorithm avoids the problem that the sensor nodes will be useless because of moving across the borders by adjusting the forces among sensor nodes and the forces between sensor nodes and the borders. And it achieves balanced energy consumption.For the situation that the sensor nodes’coordinates can be determined, the PSO coverage control algorithm is be described at first, and then the algorithm that adapting Chaotic-PSO coverage control algorithm based on energy balance is be proposed. The algorithm achieves balanced energy consumption, and it avoids the problem that the PSO coverage control algorithm is easy to fall into local optimum.Finally, simulation results prove that the algorithms proposed in the paper can not only achieve the coverage requirement, but also the goal of energy balance.
