In the production process of continuous annealing line, the accuracy control of thebridling roll is the key factor to improve the strip steel quality. In order to study the advancedcontrol system for the bridling roll strip tension control, the state space model of tension rollstrip tension is established with the mathematical modeling of mechanism modeling method.A sliding mode PLC controller with Siemens industrial automatic control architecture isdeveloped. A hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform which includes PLC control system,PC monitoring system and model of computer system is built at last. The main work is shownas follows:(1)All the process running mechanism in the continuous annealing line is analyzedbased on the practical situation of industrial control field. The control demand for bridling rollstrip tension control is analyzed and the bridling roll strip tension control model is establishedbased on the bridling roll operating mechanism. The state space expression of bridling rollstrip tension control is established, and the accuracy of the model is verified by field data.(2)The sliding mode control method is introduced to the design of the bridling roll striptension control. The basic control principle of sliding mode control method is analyzed. Thesuperiority of the sliding mode control method in dealing with the coupled multivariablecontrol system is discussed. With the bridling roll strip tension state space model, the bridlingroll strip tension sliding mode controller is established. At last, the control effect of slidingmode controller is verified with the MATLAB mathematical simulation software.(3)The bridling roll strip tension control system is developed by SIEMENS PLCcontrol scheme, mainly includes the development of PLC sliding mode controller,theconstruction of the master-slave station control structure, the design of remote control withdistributed I/O.(4)The hardware-in-the-loop simulation platform for the bridling roll strip tensioncontrol system is developed, which includes SIEMENS PLC controller, PC monitoringsystem and model computer system. By using SIEMENS PC monitoring and data collectionplatform, the monitoring computer monitoring interface is developed.And by using Simulinksoftware, model of computer is developed. The data exchange between the varioussubsystems is achieved by using Profibus, industrial Ethernet and OPC communicationtechnology.
