It has been proved that using the information technology to replace traditional manuallabor not only reduces manufacturing costs, increases production capacity, but alsoimproves the quality of products, and making enterprises in a dominant position in theglobal competition. MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is a bridge betweenenterprise resource management system and process control system; it is an important partof enterprise information systems and plays a decisive role. The traditional MES has theproblems of high development costs, poor maintenance, and poor data integration. Toaddress these problems and the fit for the development trend of software systemarchitecture, this paper proposes a service-oriented development model for reconfigurableMES, which uses SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) technology, modular andcomponent technology, use module to assemble as component, then use component togenerate the appropriate services based on business processes. In order to improve thesystem reconfiguration, components and services, a multi-level form is adopted. Via theuse of different granularity of components and services, system can meet the needs ofdifferent user quickly. How to improve the system’s capability of reconfiguration andintegration is an important task and needs to be research. To address this issue, thefollowing contents are studied in this paper.1. The past, present and future trends of MES is discussed, and the problem oftraditional MES development model is analyzed. A reconfigurable MES based on SOAsolutions is proposed in this paper via the research, development and implementation ofsome successful experience of MES. The solution has the ability of rapid deployment andassembly, moreover it can exchange information through a unified service interface withother information systems in a collaborative way which provides great support of theenterprise "agile manufacturing" strategy.2. Service-oriented architecture reconfigurable MES with the technology of SOA,component and etc. has been analyzed firstly, and then XML-based data integration andexchange technology is proposed in this paper. 3. The overall system’s requirement for flexibility and integration has been consideredfirstly, and then the reconfigurable MES based on SOA is designed using multi-levelarchitecture and standardized format for message communication, and.4. A model-driven system construction method has been analyzed firstly, and then aMES system which fit well with company’s needs is developed based on the above method.This system is based on.Net and SQL Server development platform by using XML for theconfiguration of module, component and service, which highly improved theconfigurability of the system.
