With the deeply application of information technology in manufacturing enterprises, the workshop oriented information system, such as manufacturing execution system (MES), has become the research and application hot for manufacturing enterprises informatization. MES is the bridge between ERP and SFC system. The application effects of MES directly influence the management level and agility of the manufacturing enterprises. While, most of MES is insufficient in the ability of function expansion and system integration, and can't well satisfy the requirements of business development of the manufacturing enterprises. To solve above problems, a service-oriented MES is studied in this paper.1. Based on the analysis of the background of information system application in manufacturing enterprises, this paper introduces the conception and function model of MES. On the basis, the study and application situation of MES is analyzed.2. Based on the analysis of the principle and modeling process of service-oriented system modeling, the service modeling approach for MES is deeply studied with the aspects of service recognition, service classification, and service design and realization.3. A web services-based MES integration framework is provided based on the analysis of presently system integration approaches. The system integration framework is composed by three layers, which are resource layer, service layer and business layer. On the basis, the concrete integration realization technologies is studied, which realize the integration operation for the MES and other information systems.4. Based on above study achievements, a service-oriented MES prototype is designed according to the enterprises'requirements. And the system deployment scheme is designed with the system application environment.5. Based on the actual needs of enterprise and the design result prototype system, Using J2EE and Web service technology, the system is developed and implemented, the prototype system consists of nine function modules, which are basic data management, workshop task management, production progress management, key quality information collection and analysis, production line state information management, workshop inventory management, integrated query and statements, workshop document management and systems management. The prototype system is applied in an automobile parts manufacturing enterprises and achieved well application effects.
