With the development of fieldbus technology, it is gradually realized networking, intelligent and information of train control system by utilizing fieldbus technologies in the train Fieldbus control network. WorldFip fieldbus are widely used as the backbone network of many heavy locomotive, subway trains and other rail vehicle, with it’s highly reliability, good scalability, powerful real-time performance and other characteristics. As field device level communication bus, CAN is utilizined in a lot of on-board electrical equipment (such as braking, traction, doors, air conditioning, etc.) and passenger information control subsystems. In order to solve the problem of intercommunication and interconnection between FIP network control system of heavy load locomotive or subway train or other rail vehicles and on-board electrical equipments with the CAN interface (such as Traction Control Unit, Brake Control Unit, etc.), the paper has designed a WorldFip-CAN gateway device which is used for interconnection between WorldFip and CAN bus, ultimately realized the bidirectional data conversion function between WorldFip and CAN network. The WorldFip port has all communication function of WorldFip network station and the CAN port utilizes standard CAN interface.First the paper based on the development of fieldbus technology in recent years, summarized the development of WorldFip bus, CAN bus and WorldFip-CAN gateway, deeply analysised the communication protocol of WorldFip and CAN. In this paper, based on FIP heavy load locomotive test platform project, then focus on the three parts of WorldFip-CAN gateway:hardware design, software design, gateway debugging and type test based on the heavy load locomotive test platform project. The hardware part include architecture of gateway and reliability design, circuit design of CPU board, FIP network card, power supply board, motherboard,etc; Software part mainly completes operating system migrating of CPU board, CAN and FIP driver design and corresponding application writing, etc; Ultimately, debugging the gateway by FIP network test platform and laboratory type test. It turns out the gateway can be real-time, reliable forwarding data between WorldFip and CAN network communication through analyze of the test results.The development of this device provide a strong support for promoting the localization process of on-board electrical components based on WorldFip network in the field of our, country’s railway vehicles, make the on-board electrical equipment with CAN interface applied in vehicles become a reality.
