With the continued growth of the Internet information, network servers require more storage space for the growth of information. Therefore, a new concept named’external storage’cames into being. In order to achieve this target, engineers have proposed the concept of a Storage Area Networks (SAN). The most significant feature of the Storage Area Networks (SAN) is the seperation of the physical medium and communication. The Storage Area Networks (SAN) is supported by Fabric Channel (FC) technology, which is an integration for the network and I/O interface based on an ANSI standard.In Fabric Channel (FC) networks, FC switches are typically considered to be trusted, because of the fact that each node in the FC device need to log in before communications are established. Also, FC links are in a point to point connection way. Therefore, it’s easy for the FC switch to control the access of the FC switch nodes completely. Although this type of networking greatly enhances security and the control of the network, the network’s flexibility is greatly reducedThe appearance of FCoE (Fibre Channel over Ethernet) makes up for the loss, because it increases the flexibility of Fabric networking. But it also brought new problems:due to the fact that Ethernet bridge could exist between the device ENode and FCF, the network is no longer a point to point connection, so FC switch becomes unable to control effectively each node as before.FIP-SNOOPING protocol is the perfect solution to this problem which is a safety protocol applied on the edge device of FCoE. Through the detection of MAC address, the packet can only be sent to the appointed switches. As a result, the FC switch can control the respective nodes effectively again.The main work of this paper is to study and implement the FIP-SNOOPING protocol. The realization of the protocol is defined as three parts:the realization of FCoE mode switching and FIP-SNOOPING protocol, the implement based on the distributed network. This paper first describes issues related to the development of the protocol, including the FCoE protocol, FIP protocol, FCF switch, NPV switch and Transit router mode as well as the knowledge of distributed network. Secondly, this article will clarify the needs analysis of both the FIP-SNOOPING protocol and the FCoE mode switching, which is the focus of this article. Next, this article will elaborate FIP-SNOOPING module function design, data structure design and module function implementation, as well as the design and implementation FCoE mode switching module functions. Finally, the content will be given to the development of tests to demonstrate the success of this development and completeness.
