| Currently, there are a lot of Internet applications and services that need higher requirements for bandwidth. Since the multicast technology based on IPv6 can avoid the waste of network resources, reduces the network congestion and solve the problems such as the broadcast storm, and completely solve the problem of insufficient IP address, it will make far-reaching influence to the next generation network application. In IPv6 multicast technology applications, MLD protocol (Multicast Listener discovery protocol) has found wide applications. Based on the actual working experience and the study on the MLD protocol and MLD snooping in the two layer switcher, the author finally implements the applications for two layer switcher.Firstly, the project relevant background, source and developing of technology are discussed, followed by the description of IPv6 multicast technology, MLD protocol and MLD snooping principle. Then, the design of the MLD snooping is given, and discribe the module implementation, present the testing and analysis of the result. The result shows that MLD snooping module can maintain multicast group and manage multicast data based on prior designment, realize the function of multicast message snooping. |
