With the rapid rise of three dimensional animation technology in recent ye ars, this kind of realistic animation style is more and more loved by the people t han the two-dimensional animation. At the same time, the3D animation technolo gy as a new means of making animation, its development is fast enough to make all people to be surprised. The Maya software, as the world’s top three-dimensio nal animation software, its function is very powerful, the content is very compreh ensive, and the page of its working area is practical, so that the production effici ency of it is higher than other software, its quality of rendering is also higher th an the same type of other software, it is the most useful and hi-tech software in r ecent time. Now the application of Maya software has been developed to a ver y popular stage, Maya software provide a lot of convenience and shortcut in creat ion of various characters in animation for animators.In nowadays, the animation roles emerge in an endless stream in everywher e of the whole world, there are many animation roles impressed the audience s, but there are also many animated characters make no impress to audiences. Th e importance of the role-making that comes out. The role depend on the scrip t, a good or bad script has a direct impact on the role. But it is still a work of failure if there is no memory in the designation of animated characters even the y are in a good script. So how to create roles based on script description, let th em complete each other, is an important basis for us. Good designation comes w ith good production, what the Maya software needs to do is the translation fro m the ideas into real three-dimension models.What this thesis study is how to create a role with Maya software accordi ng to the set and production before, and how to innovate in the process to attr act viewers, through the simple character designation of the past, catch up with t he science and technology development trend, how to put the special elements in the character designation. The use methods and specific classification methods o f Maya software, and if it will cause difficulty or not when we used the special effects. How does the Maya software come out of this kind of software,and what the other software lack of.In the deeper understanding of Maya software, this thesis mainly studies ho w to combine the special effects with the designation of roles perfectly, make the character more vivid. In the cartoon, we only use the special effects when the r ole playing special skills, the role and the special effects are separated mostly. A s everyone knows, the effects have a high requirement of the equipment, so if t he role and complex effects have been fused, then render it would be a big proble m, so we need to study how to make a simpler combination which can be disti nguished from other conventional role and conveniently to run.Finally, compared the effects of3D Max and Maya software in the productio n and post rendering effects, analysis of the advantages of Maya software in the production.
