Active Antenna Array is a research hotspots in recent years, which is considered as a promising technology to enhance the performance of LTE. Compared to the traditional antenna system, Active Antenna Array System(AAS) has the following advantages:dynamic beam-forming, flexible networking, supporting multi-mode and multi-band standards and so on. During the master’s study, the author investigates AAS in the National Science and Technology Major Projects, and the main outcomes are summarized as:Based on the standardization of3GPP RAN4, system-level simulation platform of AAS is constructed in this thesis. The platform includes no cell splitting scene and cell splitting scene. The separate optimization technology of uplink and downlink and the cell splitting technology are analyzed in this thesis. The simulation results show that the two networking technologies can improve system performance. Especially the cell splitting technology has a potential for better performance if the serious interferences problem can be solved.Based on the system-level simulation platform, the coexistence simulation platform of AAS is constructed. According to the implementation principle of AAS cell splitting, new model of Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio(ACLR) and In-band Blocking is proposed. The simulation results show that the radio-frequency requirements of AAS cell splitting system, ACLR and In-band Blocking, are not higher than legacy system. Both the existing literature and the simulation results in this thesis both reveal that the performance of traditional AAS cell splitting technology is not good enough. In the case of AAS vertical cell splitting scene, there are strong intra-cell and inter-cell interferences, and the split cells receive more interferences from neighbor cells because of the cell splitting. In order to improve the performance of AAS cell splitting system, a genetic algorithm(GA) is proposed in this thesis. By changing the amplitude excitation of active antenna array through GA, the optimized antenna patterns can improve the system performance effectively by reducing the interference of different beams. A case of AAS vertical cell splitting system is provided to verify the feasibility of this algorithm.Based on the simulation platforms and simulation results in this thesis, the author published an SCI indexed paper and submitted several proposals to3GPP RAN4through the enterprise(two of them were approved and were written to the TR37.842).
